Gus Rayford Ashworth

Gus Rayford Ashworth, 95, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 7, 2025. He was born on October 18, 1929, to the late Robert Ashworth and Grace Foley Ashworth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jane A. Harrell and Frances Clark; and brothers, Harvey Ashworth, Ronald Ashworth, and Arthur Lee Ashworth.

Gus proudly served his country in the United States Army and later dedicated many years of service to Stanley Furniture where he retired.

He is survived by his brother, Garland “Doc” Ashworth (Shirley); along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
