Hallie Francinia Cabiness
Hallie Francinia Cabiness, a beloved member of our community, passed away early August 12, 2025. Born November 10, 1959, in Axton, Virginia, she was the seventh of nine children born to Bruce Roosevelt Cabiness and Pearlie Gray Cabiness (Carter).
In addition to her late father, Hallie was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Earl Scott Cabiness and Jesse Randolph Cabiness, as well as her dear sister, Theresa Cabiness Hodnett.
Hallie attended Laurel Park High School, where she graduated from the class of 1979. Like many of her peers, she joined Bassett-Walker, Inc. in the knitting department, where she skillfully managed large spools of thread. This role became her career for many years until an injury prevented her from continuing. After a brief stint working at Blue Ridge Nursing Home, Hallie embarked on a new path, studying cosmetology at Allen’s Beauty School. This education honed skills that would end up serving her well for years to come. However, Hallie’s true passion was found in babysitting. In addition to raising her own two children, she cherished the opportunity to keep and bond with over 30 children during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Her love for children was evident in every interaction she had with them.
Hallie’s faith was deeply rooted in her baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost, bestowed upon her under the guidance of the late Bishop William H. Giles. She was devoted member of The Only Way Church of Christ in Eden, North Carolina, until her relocation to Martinsville in 1992. In Martinsville, she found a new church home under the leadership of Bishop Early Dillard at Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of Christ, where she remained a member until her passing.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She leaves one daughter, Ebony Nechelle Cabiness; one son, Brenton LaKee Cabiness; one grandson, Justin McCray Carter; and a special daughter, Symphanie Divine Collins. She also leaves behind three sisters, Doris Pritchett, Helen Morehead, and Ellen Cabiness; two brothers, David Cabiness (Shirley) and Keith Cabiness (Leslie); and her beloved mother, Perlie Carter.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of Christ, followed by a private burial. Visitation will be one-half hour prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 4:30-6:30 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
