Hampton Forbes

Mr. Hampton Edward Forbes, Jr., age 94, of Covington, died Saturday, October 25, 2025 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Betty Southers Forbes whom he loved dearly.
Mr. Forbes was born November 5, 1930 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Hampton Edward Forbes, Sr. and Lucy Hinton Forbes, He was employed as a carton designer for Westvaco for several years before his retirement. Mr. Forbes was a member of the Church of Christ. Hampton enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to spend time with his family.
Mr. Forbes is survived by his son, Hampton Edward Forbes, III; his daughters, Deborah F. Aretz and husband, Jack of Mt. Jackson and Gwyneth Schultz and husband, Albert of Georgia; a son-in-law, Thomas E. Hames of Elkton, MD; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five great- great grandchildren; a sister, Dreama Jones of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Forbes was preceded in death by daughter, Therressa L. Hames and two sisters, Lavera Wilkerson and Dorothy Forbes Sue.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Church of Christ with Kent Blevins officiating.
