Hannah Rogers Orgain

Hannah Rogers Orgain passed into the Lord’s hands on January 1, 2025, after a long period of declining health. She was 76. Ms. Orgain was the daughter of the late Joseph Harold and Helen Blair Rogers of Chatham. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Harold Rogers, Jr., and nieces Kathy Rogers Touchstone of Dallas and Johannah Rogers Phelan of Atlanta and many dear cousins.

A Chatham native, Hannah attended Chatham High School and Averett University. After some years in Columbia, Maryland, she returned to Chatham in the late 1980’s where she lived until her death. Upon returning, she worked for Averett in the adult education office and enrolled in after-work classes, ultimately receiving a Masters Degree in Business Administration. She was later employed by Pittsylvania County, where she worked until her retirement.

Ms. Orgain was a member of the Chatham Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder

And Clerk of Session. She was a member of Chapter BO of the PEO Sisterhood, a national women’s philanthropic organization.

Hannah Orgain will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind-hearted and endlessly funny soul who brought joy and laughter to everyone she met. She had a unique talent for turning even the most mundane moments into hilarious stories that left people in stitches. As a loyal friend, Hannah’s quick wit and playful sense of humor were unforgettable. Her love for dogs was unmatched, and over her lifetime, she shared her home and heart with a series of beloved canine companions, each with their own quirky personality. To beloved nieces, she was a cool aunt with a uncanny knack for choosing the perfect gift, making every holiday and birthday feel like a comedy show wrapped in love. A great cook, meals at her house were always a treat.

She will be remembered at a memorial service on Saturday, January 4, at 11:00am at Chatham Presbyterian Church. The family request that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to the church.
