Harold Craft

August 8, 1946 - June 24, 2024

On Monday June 24th, Harold Wayne Craft, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 77.
Harold was born on August 8th, 1946 in Rich Patch of Alleghany County, VA, to Percy and Inez (Redman) Craft. Harold married Donna Harless in 1990. Together, they had two children, Travis and Holly. Harold began farming when he was just a child on the family homestead and started working at an early age. In his early years, he was a welder, but most of his working years were spent taking on the strenuous demands of logging and farming. After retiring from logging altogether, he continued farming, only just recently stopping a few years ago. Harold had a love for the outdoors. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and roaming the countryside. He was an avid gardener and took pride in growing things. Later on, he took joy from admiring the land and the creatures who took up residence on it. Harold was fond of feeding and watching the birds. Animals held a special place in his heart and he had an unmatched compassion for all critters. He enjoyed listening to “old timey” country music and reminiscing about the good ole days. He was an avid gun and knife collector. It brought him joy to share the things he loved with others. He is best remembered for his genuineness, wisdom, humor, kindness, and humble nature.
Harold was preceded in death by father, Percy Craft, mother, Inez Craft, brother, Reevis Craft, and sister, Margaret Ross. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Donna Craft, two children, Travis Craft [Whitney] and Holly Secrist [David], two grandchildren, Caleb Secrist and Beau Craft, four sisters, Nadine Humphries, Judith Persinger, Virginia Jackson, and Doris Smith, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 28 at 11:00 AM at the Craft Family Cemetery with Reverend Raymond Christian officiating.
