Harold Dean Wood

Harold “Dean” Wood, 86, of Vernon Hill, VA passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at his residence. Dean was born January 11, 1937, in Gretna, VA to the late Berkley Gilmore Wood and the late Eloise Hedrick Wood.

Dean was a member of the Samuel Harris Baptist Church.

Dean is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Ann McLaughlin Wood; daughter, Tempie Wood Wade (David); sons, Tony Wood (Nancy), and Carl Wood (Bonnie); grandchildren, Jamie Gillispie (Scott), Dakota Wood, Alex Holappe (Kevin), and Daniel Spencer Wade; and great-granddaughter, Kentley Glass.

In addition to his parents, Dean was predeceased by sons, Barry Dean Wood, and Michael Alan Wood; and brother, Thelbert Wayne Wood.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Hillcrest Burial Park with Pastor Richard Motley officiating. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence.
