Harriet Glodean Tinsley

Harriet Glodean Giles Tinsley, 84, of Axton, Virginia, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024. She was born January 26, 1940, in Henry County , to the late Jessie Bill Hairstson and Mimia Giles Hairston.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jim “J.D.” Tinsley; sons, Jim D. “Beaver” Tinsley and James Darnell Tinsley; sisters, Novella Hairston Martin and Iris Jean Giles; brothers, Poncho Hairston, William “Bill” Hairston, Albert Hairston, Argertine “Rocker” Hairston and Willie “Baby Boy” Hairston.Harriet was a member of Jerusalem Free Deliverance Church in Leatherwood, Virginia. She was employed for over twenty years with Southern Finishing. Harriet loved to cook, play the piano, and sing.She is survived by daughters, Sheena Robertson (Curtis), Debbie “Cookie” Tinsley, and Paula “Candy” Tinsley; sons, Wesley Tinsley (Gloria) and Shawn Tinsley (Nicole); sister, Connie Lester, Joan “Dee Dee” McRae, and Doris Dillard (Robert); brother, David Hairston (Thelma); sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Giles, Abbie Lou Lampkins, and Thivie Broadnax; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.The funeral will be Friday, September 20, 2024, at 12:30 PM at Jerusalem Free Deliverance Church, Leatherwood, Virginia with Pastor James Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Giles Family Cemetery, 800 Mitchell Road, Axton, Virginia. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service.
