Harry Eugene Preble
Harry Eugene Preble, 81, died after an extended illness and under hospice care on March 4, 2025. He passed away peacefully at home. He was born August 11, 1943, in Paris, TN, the son of Clinton and Doris Preble.
Harry graduated from E.C. Glass High School, class of 1961. Following graduation, he attended and graduated from Lynchburg College. While attending college, he also worked at Lynchburg Foundry. Harry had a successful career at BWXT (formerly Babcock & Wilcox) for many years until his retirement. He was able to travel extensively through his job and visit several parts of the world. Harry was a member of different organizations and clubs throughout his life. Some of these included Duck’s Unlimited and Lynchburg Sports Club. Harry thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors throughout his life. He was an avid huntsman and fisherman and enjoyed playing golf (most of the time- when his game was “on!”).
Harry is survived by his son, Jeff, and his wife, Nancy, of Fernandina Beach, FL; daughter, Monica Casey, and her husband, Matt, of Knoxville, TN.; three grandchildren, Kate Preble and Lindsay and Henry Casey; one brother, Tommy, and his wife, Dana; one sister, Nancy Callahan; and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, Harry’s most trusted and steadfast friend, Zach Adams, and his wife, Melinda, of Evington, VA., are extended surviving family members.
A celebration of life event will occur for family and other close loved ones at a future date.
