Heather Hale Wright

HEATHER HALE WRIGHT, 52, of the Poplar Hill Community, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at her home.  She was born May 5, 1972 in Roanoke, VA, the daughter of Pastor Hunter B., Jr. & Frances Melvin Hale.

Heather graduated from Liberty High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Radford University. She was a social worker for DSS and was passionate about her service and helping others. She poured her heart into caring for others and her presence was felt in every life she touched.

She loved the beach and was an avid Jimmy Buffet fan. She was kind and compassionate and will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

Heather was preceded in death by her father, Pastor Hunter B. Hale, Jr., and her grandparents, Hunter B. Sr. & Margaret Hale and Carl & Helen Melvin.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Hunter Wright (Rachel Goode) and his father, Darrell Wright; her first granddaughter, who is on the way, Avery; her mother, Frances Melvin Hale; her sister, Christina Selfe; her uncle and aunt, Curtis & Linda Melvin; and her special pet companion, “Max.”

A memorial celebration of life is planned for Monday, May 5, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until service time, 7:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Heather’s honor to the “City of Refuge,” 249 Dora Highway, Pulaski, VA 24301.
