Helen Smith Williams

HELEN SMITH WILLIAMS, 83, of the Pinch Creek community of Bland, VA, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025, after complications from hip surgery. She was born April 3, 1942 in Clear Fork, VA, the daughter of the late John Edd & Sarah Jane Stowers Smith.

Helen was primarily a homemaker in addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed cooking for her family, crocheting and needlepoint, and working through word search puzzles. Always an avid reader, she was always ready for a good book and a cup of hot tea.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Emerson Williams and 7 siblings.

Helen is survived by her daughter and caretaker, Sherry Bailey, of Bland; her son & daughter-in-law, Chris & Nancy Williams, of Rocky Gap; her beloved grandchildren, J.C. Belcher & Taylor Leonard, Samantha & Jeremiah Hickman, Mackenzie Bailey & Nathan Dunford and Sydney Williams; 2 great-grandchildren and one arriving soon; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 1, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Pastor Brian Consley officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until service time, 2:00 P.M.
