Henry Nichols Calhoun
Henry Nichols Calhoun, 68, of Salem, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024. Born in Savannah, Georgia, on September 27, 1956, Henry lived a life full of love, passion, and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Nancy Nichols Calhoun and Andrew Pickens Calhoun Sr. Tragically, he also lost his older brother, Andy Calhoun, just hours before his own passing.
Henry leaves behind a family who will cherish his memory forever: his devoted wife, Mary Jane Calhoun; daughters Lisa, Stacey (husband Andy), Katy (husband Justin) and his only son Jimmy. Henry also leaves behind grandsons, Wesley, Austin, Aiden, Sammy, and Alistair. He is also survived by his nieces Ansley, Cate, Amy, and Brooke; nephews Andrew, Jeremy, Adam, and Jimmy B.; sisters-in-law Sherry and Milree; brothers-in-law Jim, Major, and Barry; and his special cousin Emily, along with countless other beloved family members.
A graduate of Clemson University with a bachelor's degree in ceramic engineering, Henry was a proud supporter of his alma mater. A diehard Clemson Tigers football fan, Henry held season tickets and rarely missed a game, often traveling far and wide to cheer on his beloved team. He was a lifetime IPTAY member, showing his unwavering support for Clemson athletics.
After a long and successful career, Henry retired from Old Virginia Brick, where he was known for his hard work and leadership. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time golfing with friends, relishing the camaraderie and challenge of the game.
Henry was blessed with lifelong friendships, including those of Russel, Steve, and Johnathan, who were like brothers to him.
Henry’s life was a testament to loyalty, love, and a passion for the things he held dear, whether it was family, football, or his time on the golf course. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Henry’s memory to a charity of choice or the Clemson University Scholarship Fund.
