Hilda Beamer

October 24, 1934 - December 26, 2024

Hilda Beamer Hilda Brown Beamer, 90 of Narrows, VA, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2024.  Helda was born on October 24, 1934, in Narrows and was a daughter of the late Cyrus Wells Brown and Lyda Hale Brown.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Warner Beamer, 5 sisters, Mary Gray Campbell, Sarah Swarts, Nancy Clevenger, Carol Faulkner, Alice Everhart and 5 brothers, Herbert Brown, Hamilton Brown, William Brown, Joe Brown and Jerry Brown.

Hilda was a lifelong resident of Narrows, graduating from Narrows High School in 1952.  She graduated from National Business College in Roanoke.  She spent her career at Celanese Corp. in Narrows, starting as a secretary, eventually becoming the secretary for the Plant Comptroller before becoming a buyer in the purchasing department where she stayed until her retirement.  She was longtime member of Hale’s Chapel, United Methodist Church in Wolf Creek, serving as the pianist, a Sunday School Teacher, and at one time, was the Youth Director.  After Ron’s death, she moved back to town, then transferred membership back to the First United Methodist Church in Narrows.  She was an active member of the D.A.R., served as a board member of the Giles County Department of Social Services.  She was also a lifelong bridge player.  She absolutely loved the company of her many, many family members, and always looked forward to spending the week with many of them at Sunset Beach, NC, every summer.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Beamer (Janet) of Amherst, NY, 2 grandchildren, Josef D. Beamer (Kadie), Jordan B. Shively (Nathan), 3 great grandchildren, Beamer Shively, Blake Ruth Shively, Dawson Ronald Beamer, 1 sister, Rebecca B. Moore of Waynesboro, sister-in-law, Rita J. Brown of Erie, PA and many nieces and nephews.

A private burial service will be held, and a celebration of Life will be held in the spring.  The family would like to give a special thanks to Heritage Hall Rich Creek Nursing Home and to her caregivers that took such compassionate and loving care of her before she went in the nursing home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials donations can be made to Hale’s Chapel United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of narrows, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
