Hilda Parker Garrett

Hilda Parker Garrett, 92, of Rustburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

Born on September 27, 1932, in Harrisburg PA, she was the daughter of the late Hillery and Mary Parker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, David Inge Garrett; son, David Allen Garrett; sister, Arlene Glisan; and her brother, James Parker.

Hilda had a deep love for painting and sewing, expressing her creativity through each brushstroke and stitch. She and her husband shared many wonderful adventures traveling together over the years, often accompanied by their family. Of all the joys in her life, none brought her more happiness than spending time with her grandchildren, whose lives she touched with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Phelps (Dale), son, Richard “Ricky” Dale Garrett; three grandchildren, Abby Garrett, Justin Dunkley (Lisa) and Landon Dunkley (Amanda); four great grandchildren, Palmer, Sienna, Garrett and Michael; and a sister, Ruth Thompson.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Rustburg Baptist Church, 286 Rocky Road, Rustburg VA, 24588. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will immediately follow the service at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery.
