Homer Staley Luther

Homer Staley Luther, 86, of Fieldale, Virginia passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Sovah Health of Martinsville, Virginia. He was born May 28, 1938, in Hillsville, Virginia to the late James Olen Luther and Lola Jane Myers Luther.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Miller Luther; daughter, Susan LaJuan Kimball; sisters, Frieda Richardson, Ineda Hart, and Nancy Motley; brothers, Clinton Luther, Odell Luther, and Kennard Wayne Luther.Homer proudly served his country in the United States Airforce during the Vietnam era. He was a dedicated Dupont employee for more than 25 years and kept the Dupont spirit alive in the years following by hosting their Christmas party each year at the Rangeley Ruritan Club. He was a dedicated member of the Rangeley Ruritans for many, many years. Homer was of the Baptist faith. In his free time, you could find him enjoying the great outdoors, camping and fishing. Homer treasured spending time with his family at his cabin at Park Ridge. He thoroughly enjoyed motorcycle riding, tinkering in his garage, and trading big boy toys. Homer was generous to a fault and never met a stranger in his life. He left an everlasting positive impact on everyone he met.He is survived by his son, John Luther (Wendy); sisters, Lois Edwards (the late Rev. Gary Edwards), and Janice Wilson (Dewey); brother, Dennis Luther (Faye); grandchildren, Gavin, Chris, Melissa, Meredith, Kimberly, and William; three great grandchildren.There will be a Visitation Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, 1425 Greensboro Road, Martinsville, Virginia 24112. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 4410 Stones Dairy Road, Bassett, Virginia 24055, with Pastor Roy McVey officiating.
