Hunt Allen Meadows

Hunt Allen Meadows III of Chatham, Virginia died on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Roman Eagle Health and Rehab. He was born on March 20, 1937, to the late Hunt Meadows Jr. and Dorothy Masino Meadows. He attended Hargrave Military Academy and served in the Unites States Air Force and Virginia National Guard.

He was employed by the Virginia Department of Taxation and was the Commissioner of Revenue for Pittsylvania County from 1983-1999.

He was past chairman of the Pittsylvania Red Cross Chapter and past member of The Chatham Lions Club. In addition, he served as vice-president of the Chatham Horse Show Association, and he was an avid five-gaited Saddlebred showman. He was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church.

He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Allen Meadows and a sister, Rose Marie Meadows.

He is survived by three brothers, Taylor Meadows, Richard Meadows and his wife Mary Jac, Frank Meadows and his wife Bettye, and a sister Sarah M. Oakes and her husband Jerry, all of Chatham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of those at Roman Eagle that provided loving and caring care, especially Carol, Charlene, Jane, Lora, Meryl, and Darlene.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 2:30pm at Norris Chatham Chapel, Chatham, VA, with Pastor Mikel Pugh officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham, VA. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 1:30-2:30pm also at Norris Chatham Chapel, Chatham, VA.
