Ilene Walker

Ilene Burnette Walker, 77, of Stuart, Virginia, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, at her residence. She was born March 21, 1947, in Virginia, to the late Gomer G. Walker and Madeline Hutcheson Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger S. Burnette; second husband, Thomas Walker; two brothers, Charles William Walker and James Gomer Walker; and one sister, Evilyn Gillman.

Ilene attended the Gathering Place of Critz. She found joy in sewing and quilting and dedicated her life to caring for her family, especially her beloved great grandchildren, with whom she showered with affection. Her faith in Jesus and love for worship were central to her life. She also delighted in spending time outdoors, whether gardening or mowing the lawn. Ilene was committed to her family’s well-being, often preserving tomatoes for them and always finding extra moments to be with them.

She is survived by one son, Charles S. Burnette (Terressa) of Critz, Virginia; three daughters, Wanda Whitlow (Junior) of Critz, Virginia, Michella Boarman (David) of Patrick Springs, Virginia, and Ashley Burnette (John Newman) of Critz, Virginia; one granddaughter, Tiffany Pendleton; one grandson, Matthew Whitlow; three great grandchildren, Aubrey Pendleton, Aydan Newman, and Adilene Newman; four step grandchildren, Michael Foley, Ricky Foley, Renne Pendleton, and Jennifer Donley; one brother, J.D. Walker of Stuart, Virginia; two sisters, Mae Mosley of Stuart, Virginia, and Linda Knott of Oak Level, Virginia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Roger and Lou Ann Moore officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow at County Line Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.
