Irene Pardue Carter
Irene Pardue Carter, age 96 of Rocky Mount died Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at her home. She was born March 24, 1929 in Devotion, NC a daughter of the late Claude and Nannie Pardue. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Carter; daughter, Vanessa Carter; brothers, John L. Pardue, Gilmer Pardue and wife, Betty Jo, Harold Pardue and wife Mary. Irene graduated business school in Charlotte, NC and went to work for General Electric retiring following many years of service. Irene was an avid quilter and member of the Boones Mill Quilt Guild, enjoyed gardening and cross stitching. She also earned a GIA certification from the Gemological Institute of America and was a certified pearl stringer. Surviving are her son, Mike Carter and his wife Chris Anne; grandchildren, Courtney Dagger (Thomas), Blake Carter (Hilary), Jenni McClure (Danny); great-grandchildren, Colin Dagger, Abigale McClure, Evelyn McClure, Lila McClure, Parker McClure; many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Coleen Hart. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Planned Pethood Clinic of Franklin County, P.O. Box 2118, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Mountain View Memorial Park 3 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026 with Mr. Bill Cooper officiating. Her family will receive friends 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
