Ivey Zelma Pilson
Ivey Zelma Pilson, 87, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at Stanleytown Health and Rehab. She was born March 17, 1937, in Franklin County, Virginia, to the late Oscar Brown Sigmon and Erma Sigmon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald A. Pilson; three sisters, Goldie Grubb, Neva Martin, and Elva Foley; one brother, Wayne Sigmon; and one infant brother, Woody Sigmon.
Ivey was a devoted wife and loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Fort Trial Baptist Church. Ivey, known for her fabulous cooking skills, took great joy in preparing meals for her family. She enjoyed sharing her love for cooking, especially by making special dishes for birthdays and all holidays. She treasured every moment with those she held dear. She was a kind-hearted, soft-spoken woman, who always saw the good in others.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Pilson Moran (Douglas); one son, Gary Akers Pilson (Glenda); five grandchildren, Melissa P. Hylton, Jessica M. Davis (Jason), Bridget P. Boyer (Robbie), Jarrett Moran, and Chad Pilson (Samantha); eight great-grandchildren, Tyler Hylton, Logan Hylton, Drew Boyer, Madie Boyer, MacKenzie Pilson, Riley Pilson, Collins Davis, and Gentry Davis; two great great-grandchildren, Westen and Lainey Hylton; two brothers, Kyle Sigmon (Kitty Lou) and Guy Sigmon (Mary); sister-in-law, Patsy Foley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastors Joey McNeil and Tony W. Beach officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
