James David “J.D.” Collins, Sr., 77 of Collinsville, Va. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. He was born October 21, 1946 in Stuart, Va. to James “Early” Collins and Eva Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Coy Hall.J.D. is survived by the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Joan Nelson Collins; daughter, Suzanne Terry (Scott), and sons, James David Collins, Jr. (Denise) and Jason Collins (Paige) all of Collinsville; sister, Mary Lou Hall of Stuart, Va.; grandchildren, Kemper Terry, Britney Beverley (Gunner), Colton, Cade, Ethan and Blayke Collins; two special nephews, Mark and Michael Hall and their families. He is also survived by his cousin, Richard Holt, who was like a brother.J.D. retired from Bassett Furniture Industries after 40 years of dedicated service. He loved working for Bassett and made many great friends throughout the years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville where he enjoyed serving the Lord and fellowshipping with his church family. He never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a friendly smile. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and sitting on his front porch. Most of all, he loved his family dearly and was a wonderful husband, daddy and papa. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Collinsville and will be officiated by the Reverend Dr. Larry Cheek.
