Jack Edward Oden

Jack Edward Oden, Jr., 64, of Covington, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at his residence.

Jack was born October 6, 1958, in Olney, MD., a son of the late Jack E. Oden, Sr., and Peggy Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy McCarthy and Eddie Oden; special aunt and uncle, Shirley and Ralph Carter; and a nephew, Jerry Oden.

Mr. Oden was a professional painter by trade and worked with various companies throughout his life. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong Miami Dolphins and NASCAR fan. He was a family-oriented man, and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife, Diana Lynn Oden of Covington; one son, Junior Peacock of Covington; a daughter, Nicole Peacock of Covington; grandchildren, Brandy Burton, Sebastian Burton, and Colton Burton, all of Covington; one great-grandchild, Maddilynn Cade of Covington;  sisters, Jackie (Mike) Redmiles of Laurel, MD, Faye (Timmy) Brookman, Lorretta (John) Andrews, both of Covington, Donna Hostetter of Frederick, MD, Rose (James) Queen, Lisa (Eric) Bush, both of Laurel, MD; sister-in-law, Ellen Oden of Baltimore; two brothers, John (Teresa) Carter of Covington, and Ralph Carter of Smithsburg, MD.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Johnsons Creek ARP Church Cemetery with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. The family will receive their friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM on Saturday at Arritt Funeral Home.
