Jack Keith Yeatts

November 27, 1955 - December 10, 2023

After a brave and relentless fight with many debilitating health complications, Jack Keith Yeatts, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 10, 2023 at SOVAH. He was born in Danville, VA on November 27, 1955 to the late Frances Beck Yeatts and the late John Oliver Yeatts. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Mrs. Linda Yeatts. They would have celebrated their 37th anniversary February 15, 2024.

Keith was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith, and was committed to Sunday online services on Facebook and YouTube of Swansonville and Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church services, and also Hope Church with which he was very active in a senior men’s bible study and made it to his 1:00 Wednesday “therapy sessions” if at all possible. He cherished the wisdom and feeling of connection shared with these men. Keith was a believer in Jesus Christ and he and his wife found strength and guidance in many fellowships: Ringgold Christian Fellowship, New Life Community Church, Swansonville Methodist Church, and many Bible studies. During COVID, they were so grateful for the ministry of Mike Hearp and Swansonville PHC in their parking lot Sunday services.

He enjoyed many interests and was passionate in his dedication. Among these are his beloved Alma Maters: Tunstall High School where he was a BETA club honor grad, a member of the band color guard, and a basketball manager for a brief season, Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs, Georgia where he received a four-year degree in Christian education, and Liberty University, where he was awarded a Master’s Degree in education with a specialization in school counseling. This accomplishment brought him so much joy as it was prompted by a near death bout with pneumonia in 2010. He followed every sporting event as a die-hard fan. Go Flames!

Keith worked in sales with various organizations his whole life until retirement at age 62 when he worked for Sam’s Club in Danville as an associate. He, like many of us, bumbled his way into an unplanned career in sales and found he was good at it and enjoyed it immensely. No matter what the job or situation, he found a way to prioritize people and loved to “get a rise” with his banter. As a lover of all things political, he had a steady stream of material to engage others in conversation. No matter the controversy, he never lost sight of his devotion to others.

He was part of the wonderful Barbershop group, Heart of Carolina, for two years and honored to perform in a marvelous show here in Danville, Virginia. For the last several years, he took a special interest in Pickle Ball and was a very active participant in several different leagues. Even when standing and walking were almost impossible, he would play “a game or two” with the Draper gang. The family would like to thank this remarkable group for allowing Keith to play with a partner far beyond the limits of his physical strength. I hear a jewel being fitted into the crown of Mike Turner for playing as his partner so that he could enjoy the sport even in his weakness and pain.

In addition to his wife, Keith is survived by a sister; Pamela Matherly and husband Mark of Providence, NC their children, Maria Matherly (Wilmington, NC), Timothy Matherly (Lynchburg),Nicholas Matherly (Charlotte, NC) and Jacob Matherly, wife Christian and great niece Winry. Along with a host of extended family spread far and wide, he will be sorely missed by his four-legged family members, Barney, the boisterous beagle and Precious, the curious cat.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church with visitation from 2:00-3:00 and service immediately following. If you desire, please remember Keith with a donation to Tunstall Fire & Rescue 740 Tunstall High Rd, Dry Fork, VA 24549 or the cause of your choice.
