Jackie "Jay" A. Woods

April 15, 1941 - May 21, 2025

Jackie A. Woods “Jay” was born April 15, 1941 and passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at his home. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, from 1959 to 1962 having been stationed in Germany. He was the owner of Wood’s Upholstery and Seat Cover Shop until he was no longer able to do that work. Jay drove a school bus for twenty years and cherished the moments his former bus riders would recognize him and hug his neck when he was out and about. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lura S. Woods; sisters, Dorothy, Frances and Lottie; brothers, Buren, Wilsie, Ernest, Roy and Harold. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy; son, Jackie; step-children, Richard Hudson and friend Debra, EvaMarie and Michael Armes, Wesley and Melanie Hudson; grandchildren and step-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Holley and Ronald, Janet Stanaland and Paul along with numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved furbaby, Hope. A memorial service will be held at Fairview Church of the Brethren 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 with Pastor Adam Dickerson officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, his family wishes donations be made to Franklin County Public Safety (50 Claiborne Ave, Rocky Mount, VA 24151). His family also extends their thanks to the Ferrum Rescue Squad for their kind and caring assistance during and after Jay’s illness.
