James Akers Martin

James Akers Martin, age 83 of Collinsville, VA passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026.

James was born on July 19, 1942 in Henry County, VA to Akers Green Martin and Mae Harris Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David (Bo) Walker, a sister, Janice Martin Sawyers, a brother, Johnny Ray Martin and a special aunt, Mildred (Bibbie) Craig. He was retired from Dupont and was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Susan Sawyers Walker Martin, 4 sons; Randy Ray Martin (Pam), Samuel Akers Martin (Dana), Kevin Lee Martin (Jessica) and Jeffrey Ward Walker, sister, Jo Anne Martin, brother, Jerry Randolph Martin (Sandra), 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Stone Memorial Christian Church, 3030 Virginia Avenue, Collinsville, Virginia 24078 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM with Reverend Tim Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be Spencer Martin, Lucas Martin, Bryce Martin, Cody Martin, Devyn Martin, Cole Walker, Steve Pegram and Randy Ferguson.

The family request memorials be made to Stone Memorial Christian Church.
