James Allen Harvey
James Allen “Tucker” Harvey, 77, of Salem, Va. and formerly of Pearisburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Tucker was a proud and active member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy Edward and Catherine Coburn Harvey; brother, Edward Wayne Harvey; and mother of his sons, Sandra Whitley.
His surviving family includes his wife, Linda Shutters Harvey; children, James Allen Harvey, Jr., William Bryan Harvey (Karen), Lisa S. Barnett (Chip), and Debi McClintock (Bill); sister, Karen Santolla (Curtis); sister-in-law, Dorothy Hepler Harvey; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Blankenship (Toph), James Harvey III (Desirea), Taylor Harvey, Jake Barnett (Sami), Casey Butt, Micaela Harvey, Lucas Butt, Tyler Harvey, and Tucker Harvey; great-grandchildren, Hallie Blankenship, Ryan Blankenship, and Ben Blankenship; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved cat, Firefly.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to the Lewis-Gale Medical ICU, Tucker’s church family, and all family members and friends for the love shown during this time.
A period of visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Bethel Baptist Church, also in Salem, Va., with Pastor Hilton Jeffreys officiating. Interment with military funeral honors will be carried out at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, Va.
