James Allen Poindexter

Mr. James Allen Poindexter, age 47, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Mr. Poindexter was born in Surry County on June 8, 1977, to Troy Poindexter and Diane Odum Woods. Mr. Poindexter was well-known throughout the community as a die hard Republican, working the polls at the local elections and had many friendships within the political field. In his spare time, he spent it graphic designing. Surviving Mr. Poindexter is his loving wife of 10 years, Diane Doughty Poindexter; sons, Christopher Chambers, Zachary Pierce; grandchild, Callie Chambers; step-son, Anthony Vurro; step-daughter, Janeen Vurro; three step-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Troy Robert Poindexter and Melissa; his step-mother, Celeste Poindexter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 2 PM at Calvary Assembly of God, with the Rev. Jim Vaught and Rev. Bill Jones officiating. A burial will follow at The Peoples Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, November 15, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the family. Moody’s of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Poindexter family.
