James Chandler Woods

James Chandler Woods, 88, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2024. He was born in Litchfield, Illinois on April 19, 1935 to the late Ethel Murphy Woods and the late Robert Chandler Woods. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Frances Gould Woods.

James was of the Catholic Faith, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He worked for many years as an Electrical Engineer for Perkin-Elmer before his retirement.

James is survived by a daughter; Margaret Ann Woods of Simpsonville, SC; four sons; Mike Woods (LeAnn) of Richmond Hill, GA, Jeffrey Woods (Maureen) of Myersville, MD, John Woods (Teresa) of Frederica, DE, and Robert Woods (Donna Mayfield) of Ridgecrest, CA; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his Mother, Father, and wife, James was predeceased by a daughter; Rosemary Woods, and two brothers; John “Jack” Woods and William “Bill” Woods.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the National MS Society, PO Box 91891, Washington, DC 20090.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 538 Central Blvd., Danville, VA with Father Anthony Senyah officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 6-7:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.
