James "Dee" Dewitt Blevins

James “Dee” Dewitt Blevins, 82, of Bassett, Virginia passed away Friday, October 25, 2024. He was born July 17, 1942, in Whitetop, Virginia to the late Marvin Frances Blevins and Gracie Mae Royal Blevins.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Jackson; brothers, Lyle Blevins, Ted Blevins, Leonard Blevins, Howard Blevins, Roger “Bo” Blevins, Lee Blevins.Dee attended Countyline Church of God of Prophecy. He was a hard worker and would give you the shirt off of his back. He would do anything for anyone and was always there for those close to him. James loved his old cars, car shows, auctions, and antiques. He enjoyed collecting Hess trucks and horses. James loved to be around his family and grandkids and was always there to “help” supervise the kids’ projects. He enjoyed going to West Virginia to the “old home place” and loved gardening. James was always busy working and providing for his family.He is survived by his loving wife of fifty nine years, Lucy Cleo Bowman Blevins; daughter, Donna Creel (Robbie); son, James “Jimmy” Blevins (Tina); sister, Erma Thompson; grandchildren, Justin Glass, Kelley Blevins, Jessica Glad (Matt), Michael Blevins (Ashley), Kasey Davis (Aaron), Winston the dog; step-grandchildren, Nikki McBride (Dennis), Stephanie Keffer (Travis); great-grandchildren, Aubree, Kassidy, Declan, Jacob, Kristy, James; step great-grandchildren, Derek, Morgan, Kaci.The funeral will be Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Wright Funeral Service with Pastor Jason Callahan officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
