James Hamilton Trenor

January 22, 1933 - December 31, 2024

James “Jim” Trenor of Newport, Virginia joined his Lord and Savior on the morning of Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the age of 91. He was the son of the late Mellie Hutchison and Dahl D Trenor. Jim was born and raised in Craig County. He retired from General Electric in Salem after 45 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.

Jim was a loving husband and father to his family and his Lord. He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and farming. In his younger days, he joined the Welch Appalachia League for Class D (Minor League) as a baseball pitcher. He was an avid Yankee baseball fan and rarely missed watching a game. He thoroughly enjoyed attending his grandson’s sporting events, especially his baseball games. Jim loved his church family and was a long-time member of Newport Mount Olivet United Methodist Church.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marie Jones Trenor; daughter, Ann Bennett (Morris); daughter, Karen Markham (Harry); Special grandchildren, Mary Evens (Jon); Rebekah Bennett; Lane Markham; special great-granddaughter, Elaina Evens; sister, Louise Wood; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gordon and Donna Jones; a special nephew, Ty Trenor; special nephews; Brian Jones, Travis Jones (Kim) and Hunter; special cousin, Jean Williams; and many nieces cousins and friends.

He is predeceased by an infant son, Johnny; brother, Dahl Dee Trenor; brother-in-law, Norman Wood.

A Graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, January 4, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Ross Cemetery (Craig County) with Pastor Morris Fleischer and Morris Bennett officiating. Military honors will also be presented at this time by the United States Army.
