James Hawkins

Mr. James Gray Hawkins, age 72, of Covington, died Friday, October 10, 2025, at his residence.
James loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing or simply watching the wildlife around him. He especially valued time spent with his family and friends. He was also a proud member of the local Virginia Mountain Amateur Radio Club.
Mr. Hawkins is survived by his sisters, Diedre Massey Hawkins and Lisa K. Hawkins; his stepsister, Elizabeth A. Crush; his three nieces, Melissa Martin Merchant, Danielle Hawkins Goggins, Deena Hawkins Smith; and four great nephews. He is also survived by several cousins, extended family members and friends who held a special place in his heart.
Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his parents, Wynona Walthall Hawkins Crush and Jesse James "Jim" Hawkins, Jr.; his stepfather, Robert Crush; and his brother, Gary W. Hawkins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
