James "Jamie" Thomas Gayle
James “Jamie” Thomas Gayle, Jr., 49, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025. He was born October 22, 1975, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Phyllis A. Gayle Davis and the late James Thomas Gayle, Sr.
Jamie will be remembered for his caring heart and giving spirit. He spent many years as a caregiver, a role that reflected his natural compassion for others. He enjoyed NASCAR, wrestling, and fishing, and found his greatest joy in the time he spent with his son, Brady. Jamie was known for always being willing to lend a hand and do most anything for others, and he deeply loved being surrounded by his family. Even in his passing, his selflessness continued – through his decision to be an organ donor, he gave the gift of life to three additional people. His kindness, love, and generosity will live on not only in the hearts of his loved ones but also in the lives he helped to save.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Brady Thomas Gayle; sisters, Lori Gayle Brown (Charles), Angela “Angie” Gayle Gauldin (Patrick); niece, Isabella “Belle” Gauldin; nephews, Samuel “Sam” Gauldin, Carter Brown, and Tucker Brown.
Although our time with Jamie was too short, his will be remembered for the way his life was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Franklin County Animal Shelter, 81 State Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.
Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.wrightfuneralservices.net.
