James Jefferson Kemp

James Jefferson Kemp Jr. passed away shortly after sunrise on Friday morning August 15th, 2025, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 12, 1961, to his parents James Jefferson Kemp and Mary Sutphin Kemp.

James was known as a brick mason. He was a hard-working man who had loved the New River Valley all his life. James loved watching and rooting for the Washington Redskins and listening to ACDC music.

Left to cherish his memory, would be a son. Denny Edwards and daughters, Sarah Edwards (Vic) and Jamie Edwards. Grandchildren: Christian, Harley, Camden, Daniel, and Kimberly. Great Grandson, Jaxxon Girley. A brother, Randy Kemp of Pulaski as well as a sister, Patsy Poff. A half-sister, Chrissy McMahan.

Also surviving is a special nephew, Travis Rigney, and his wife Tonya as well as a special friend, Michelle Thorne.

There will be a gathering of friends and family on Saturday afternoon (August 23, 2025) beginning at four o’clock in the Heritage Park located on Dora Highway.
