James "Jimmy" Setliff

James “Jimmy” Setliff, 72, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Sovah Health – Martinsville. He was born on November 25, 1952, in Patrick County, Virginia, to the late Buster Newman and Gladys Sarah Setliff. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Setliff, and his granddaughter, Amanda Wood.

James found joy in fishing, taking trips to the mountains, playing basketball, and spending quality time with his family and friends. An avid music lover, he cherished playing the guitar and singing along to his favorite songs with his beautiful voice. He had great faith and attended Daystar Ministries.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Marie Tilley; two grandchildren, Briana Dawn Setliff and Robert Devin Wood (Kassie); one great-grandchild, Raelynn Marie Wood; two brothers, Freddie Setliff of Patrick County, Virginia, and Mark Martin of Roanoke, Virginia; his soulmate, Patsy Martin, with whom he shared his home; as well as a host of extended family members and dear friends.

A graveside will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 1:00pm at New Hope Church Cemetery.
