James "Jimmy" Theodore McGuire

James "Jimmy" Theodore McGuire Jr., 81, of Hardy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was born July 22, 1942 in Salem to James Theodore McGuire Sr. and Elizabeth Francisco Meador. He graduated from Franklin County High School and retired from the Salem VA Federal Police Department. He was predeceased by his parents, James McGuire Sr. and Elizabeth Francisco Meador, step-father Herbert Meador, and sister Jacqueline "Jackie" Sparks, her husband Tony Sparks, and brother-in-law Ronnie "Rip" Furr. Surviving family includes his beloved and devoted wife of 57 years Joyce B. McGuire; children, James Tyler McGuire (Shela), Suzanne Rene Anderson (Robbie) and Josh Lloyd McGuire (Shannon); grandchildren, Shelsea, Dane, and Mollie McGuire, Eric McGuire and Joshua King, Cody and Colton McGuire, Alex Anderson and Alaina Anderson; great-grandchildren, Mika McGuire and Peyton King. Siblings and their spouses, Phyllis St. Clair, Jerry McGuire (Sue), Brenda West (Allen), Kenneth Meador (Kathy), Charlene Furr, and Vikki Funck (Dave) and numerous nieces,nephews, and cousins.A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Pastor Chris Kingery officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11am prior to the service.
