James O'Grady Lynskey

James O’Grady Lynskey, 82, of Martinsville, VA passed away at his residence on Sunday, December 31, 2023. James was born June 26, 1941, in Pittsylvania County, to the late Martin Thomas Lynskey and the late Ollie Moss Lynskey.

James was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Chatmoss Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, fishing and tinkering with cars. He was a very hard worker and retired from American Furniture Company after over 45 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hughes Lynskey; daughter, Sharon Faye Lynskey; son, James O’Grady Lynskey, II and wife, Wendy; daughter-in-law, Shannon Lynskey; granddaughters, Jamie Nicole Lynskey (Daniel Hicks), and Siera Jean Lynskey; sisters, Ann Lovell (Buddy), Brenda Barker (Pete), and Joyce Scearce (Phillip); and brothers, Carl Lynskey (Mary), and Garry Lynskey (Teresa).

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Stephen Duane Lynskey; sisters, Margaret Ketchum, Mary Maxie; and brothers, Steven Lynskey, William Lynskey, Thomas Lynskey, and Johnny Lynskey.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024, at The Lynskey Family Cemetery with Pastor Rodney Houston officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA 24541.
