James Roger Clark
James Roger Clark, Sr., 79, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024. He was born September 28, 1944, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late James William Clark and Ollie Christine Hayslett Clark.
He was preceded in death by infant sister, Pamela Jean Clark, and Sharon Faye Clark.
He was married to his one and only true love, Charlotte, for an amazing 60 years. Their marriage produced three children, Cyndi, Jay, and Dean, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two “great-grand bonus boys”.
Jim loved his family, who affectionately called him “Jimmy”, “Daddy”, “Jimbo”, “Pops”, and “Pawpaw”.
Jimbo loved spending time outdoors and has left his sons, Jay and Dean, with wonderful hunting memories in Bensons Run. During NASCAR season, he and his sons religiously picked three drivers each for weekly bragging rights.
He was an avid fan of UVA and looked forward to March Madness rivalry with his daughter Cyndi, who favored UNC Tarheels to keep her Daddy on his “heels”.
Throughout the years, Jim was known as a Jack-of-all-trades. As an Electrolux salesman, he relocated his family to Martinsville 52 years ago.
He was avid antique collector, remodeling contractor, and spent years in sales as a manager of Joann Fabrics and contractor at Carpetland.
Jim was definitely a people-person; he never met a stranger. Friends and relatives truly loved to listen to his stories and always giggled at his sound effects.
Jimmy leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of his wife, Charlotte Clark; daughter, Cynthia Clark Worley; sons, James Roger Clark, Jr. (Tammy), and William Dean Clark; sisters, Kathy Hall and Debbie Francis (Bob); six grandchildren, Kristen Shively, Caitlin Hankins, Jon Ryan Clark (Amanda), Thomas Dean Clark (Morgan), Hunter Reid Clark, and Bryce Thomas Worley (Morgan); eight great-grandchildren; two “great-grand bonus boys”; beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
The memorial service will be held at Wright Funeral Service Chapel at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the SPCA of Martinsville-Henry County or charity of your choice.
