James Terry Wright

JAMES TERRY WRIGHT, 63, of the Hollybrook Community of Bland, VA, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at his home. He was born May 29, 1961 in Pearisburg, VA, the son of Ted & Janet Wright. 

Terry was a lifelong member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. He was a kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one, especially his friends and neighbors. 

He was a hard worker. He helped mow and maintain the Shiloh Cemetery for most of his life. He worked on the powerlines for ten years before going to work for ABB as an assembler for 30 plus years.  

Terry enjoyed farming with his family and especially enjoyed raising turkeys, chickens and guineas. He enjoyed being outdoors. 

Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents, George Arthur & Edna Gusler Wright and Charles Herbert & Hallie Lawrence Wright, his brother-in-law, Roy Nunley and several aunts and uncles. 

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, William Terry (“Ted”) & Janet Marie Wright; his brother, Eric Wright; his sisters & brother-in-law, Cindy & Tim Lafon and Sharon Nunley; his beloved nieces and nephews , Joshua Lafon, Justin Lafon, Matthew Wright, Josie Wright, Mckenzie Chartier and a special great-nephew, Liam Tate Lafon; and many special cousins, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Becky Gatchel and Jack Cox officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until service time, 7:00 PM.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh Cemetery.
