James William Gunter

James William Gunter Sr., born on March 2, 1950, peacefully joined his beloved wife in Heaven on January 4, 2025.

James lived a life filled with passion for simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, a dedicated collector of guns and baseball cards, and had a deep appreciation for the thrill of auctions, flea markets, and pawn shops. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and socializing with friends and loved ones.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights, Virginia, on Sunday, January 12th, from 3 to 5 pm. A graveside service to celebrate James’ life will take place on Monday, January 13th, at 1 pm at Briarwood Memorial Gardens in Amherst, Virginia.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Allen Gunter Sr. and Margaret Louise Hendricks Gunter, his cherished wife of 30 years, Brenda Sue Gunter, and his brothers, Ronnie Hendricks and Clyde Gunter Jr.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Gunter (Melissa), James William Gunter Jr., Brandon Gunter, and Jason Gunter (Ali); his sister, Betty Gunter; his brother, Wayne Gunter (Lori); his grandchildren, Kaetlyn, Taylor, Mackenzie, Chase, and Eli; his great-grandchild, Kevin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Whitten Monelison Chapel is assisting the family during this time of loss.
