Jane Marie Spencer

Jane Marie Greer Spencer, 80, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024. She was born May 19, 1944, in Baltimore City, Maryland, to the late Russell Lewis Greer and Janie Mary Lawson Byerly.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William “Uncle Bob” Greer, Dradart Greer, and Lane Greer.Jane was a member of Christian Faith Baptist Church. She loved the Lord in every way possible and always made sure she was in church when able. She loved hard and had a smile that would light up any room. She had the largest girl scout troop in Henry County. Jane enjoyed traveling with her family to Southport and Oak Island. She enjoyed being at the beach and loved going on mystery trips with her husband “Bud”. She enjoyed playing cards, rummy, and bowling, which she was very good at. Her heart, arms, and home were open to more than 80 foster children throughout her lifetime, and she loved her family dearly.She is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years, Clarence “Bud” Jahew Spencer; daughters, Barbara Spencer (Greg), Lorie Turner (Mike), and Tina Kendrick (Gary); Sons, Theron “Spike” Foley, Josh Spencer, and Jesse Dillion; Grandchildren, Brian Spencer, Jessica Mostyn (Phillip), Bailey Plaster, Cody Plaster, Jonathan Kendrick, Brandon Turner (Samantha), Cassidy Foley; Great Grandchildren, Kylee Mostyn, Kelsey Mostyn; niece, Tammy Greer; nephew, Bobby Greer (Debra); and numerous foster children.The memorial service will be Friday, October 11, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Richard Dodson officiating.
