Jane S. White

Jane Elizabeth Shorter White, 88, of Collinsville, Va. passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024. She was born March 29, 1936 in Henry County to Roy Cable Shorter and Mary Frances Carter Shorter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Harry “Woody” Linwood Brown, Jr. and Edward Scott “Scotty” White; sisters, Louise Hill, Mae Shorter, Inez Koger, Edna Shorter, Edith Justus and Dorothy Matherly; brothers, Dillard, Royal, Paul, Clyde, Melvin, Billy and Dewey Shorter.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Benjamin Scott White; son, Russell Todd White; granddaughters, Madison White and Tabatha White Martin (Darien); great granddaughter, Amelia Jane Martin; daughter-in-law, Melinda White

Jane was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was the owner and operator of White’s Beauty Salon where she worked as a licensed cosmetologist and beautician for 55 years.

She loved spending time with her family and friends. The doors to her home were always open, the same as her heart. She never met a stranger and enjoyed playing Bridge, shopping and traveling the world. She will long be remembered for her sweet and outgoing personality, her strong faith and her fabulous style.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Friday, June 14, 2024 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Hillcrest Baptist Church and will be officiated by Reverend Randy Aldridge and Reverend Doug Ramsey. A private burial will take place prior to the funeral service.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
