Janet Mason Hairston

Janet Mason Hairston, 87, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned to her heavenly home Tuesday, October 7, 2025. She was born November 7, 1937, in Nelson County, Virginia to the late Andrew Mason and Anna Mason.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Delano Hairston.

Janet was a faithful member of Shiloh Way of the Cross. She loved making greeting cards, doing crafts, cooking, and spending time at church. She enjoyed reading her Bible and listening to gospel music; always finding comfort in her faith. Above all, Janet loved her children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathy Jones (Alfred), Patsy Hairston (Darryl), Anna Hairston, and Brenda Pool; sons, Bobbie Hairston, Rennie Hairston, Sr. (Willie Ann), Ernest Hairston, and Vell Hairston; sister, Mary Porter; sixteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Monday, October 13, 2025, at 12:30 PM, at Shiloh Way of the Cross with Bishop Earley Dillard officiating. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Garden. A visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be receiving family and friends at 123 Fellowship Dr., Martinsville, Virginia 24112.
