Janie Ann Tucker Brookman

Janie Ann Tucker Brookman, 62, of Covington, died Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at her residence.

She was born May 21, 1962, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Harry Eugene “Fudge” Tucker, Sr. and Betty Switzer Tucker Bogar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Lee Paxton and Richard Allen Paxton, Sr.; two grandchildren, Richard Paxton, Jr. and Kendal Paxton; one sister who died in infancy, Bertha Sue Tucker; and one brother, Harry Eugene Tucker, Jr.

Janie loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping and fishing.

Survivors include her husband, James Ricky Brookman of Covington; four sisters, Cathy Walton of Summerville, SC, Myrtle Bailey of Covington, Evelyn Tucker of Summerville, SC, and Sally (Raymond) Broughman of Low Moor; grandsons, Justin Wayne Bailey of Covington, Tyler Paxton of Texas, and Nevan Paxton of Covington; step-children, James Brookman of Covington, Robert “Rob” Brookman of Clifton Forge, Chrissy Lanhand and Tyler Brookman, both of Covington; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; and her two dogs, Knucklehead and Autumn.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Mrs. Laura Snead officiating. The family will receive their friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home.

Interment will be made in the Tucker-Switzer Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jessica Dawson, Carl Tucker, Justin Bailey, Jay Dawson, Tyler Brookman, and Jamie Brookman. Alternate pallbearers will be Braxton Roach and Eric Amely.
