Janie Marie Lawson

Janie Marie Lawson, 77, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned to her eternal home Monday, September 15, 2025. She was born April 1, 1948, in Martinsville to the late Ernest Jake Lawson, Jr. and Ruby Jane Coleman Lawson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Geneva Spillman and her brother, Roger Junior Lawson.

Janie was of the Baptist faith and a woman who deeply loved her friends and family. She attended Alan’s Beauty School where she found her passion for caring for others as a hairdresser. She took great pride in her work and poured her heart into creating a space for her clients to feel special for more than 28 years at both the JC Penny Salon and the Donna Gregory Salon. Janie loved to talk and never met a stranger. As a successful businesswoman, she paved her own way as a leader and spoke her mind with confidence. In her leisure time, Janie enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She has left an indelible print on the lives of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sisters, Shirley Foster (Frankie), Joyce Lawson; niece, Jennifer Davis; nephew, Brian Foster (Amanda); great nieces, Destiny and Cheyanne; and great-nephews, Steven and Jake.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Todd Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
