Jean Casey

August 29, 1947 - March 15, 2026

Jean traded her home here on earth to one in Heaven on March 15, 2026. She spent her final days at Good Samaritan Hospice in Roanoke. She was the loving wife of Harry Casey and mother of Kim Cooper.

Born on August 29, 1947 to Clifford and Susan Turner in Hickory, NC, Jean had worked as restaurant manager and convenience store auditor in Myrtle Beach before coming to Virginia. She enrolled in the nursing program at DSLCC, but her academic career was cut short after the first semester as she successfully battled breast cancer. She was awarded an Advanced Health Care Certificate and was a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant.

Jean enjoyed travel, especially international trips with Harry before his retirement. On several trips she had the opportunity to experience two different seasons, visiting Japan and Korea in the northern hemisphere and Australia and New Zealand in the south, plus Singapore on the equator. She also had a lot of fun trying to learn golf.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Phyllis Bumgarner and Janice Turner. In addition to her husband and daughter, survivors include stepdaughters Kim (Ray) Pascarella, Angie (Stacey) Ritchie, and Missy (Kevin) Caldwell, grandchildren Jonathon (Ashley) Price and Christopher Bridges, six step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Libby (Bob predeceased) Casey and Cyndi (Gary) Atwell, brother-in-law Rick Casey and two special friends, Wanda Haynes and Althea Champion.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Joyous Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at McCallister Memorial Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 P.M-3:00P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, 900 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, VA 24426 or to the Food Pantry at the same address.
