Jean N. Notario
Jean N. Notario, aged 93, died on Friday March 21, 2025, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born on September 13, 1931, in Falerna, Italy, Jean was the daughter of the late Dionigi and Filomena (Maruca) Trunzo. At the tender age of 15, she embarked on a new chapter of her life, moving to the United States.
Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she, alongside her family, owned and operated the Lisbon Drive-In, creating a hub of joy and entertainment for all who visited. Later in life, she brought her warmth and work ethic to Arby's in Salem.
Jean was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church as well as the Catholic Daughters of America. Jean's love for the natural world was evident in her beautiful gardens, where roses and hydrangeas bloomed under her attentive care, a testament to her nurturing spirit and love of beauty. Jean was an avid Ohio State fan.
Jean married her husband, Carmen M. Notario on October 6, 1951, and shared a life full of love and partnership until his passing on November 16, 1996. Together, they built a legacy of love that continued through their three children, Kathy (Jeffrey) Hoprich of Roanoke, Sam (Natalia) Notario of Roanoke, and Phyllis (James) Edwards of Salem.
She is also survived by one sister, Anna Cunsolo of Coraopolis, PA, her adoring grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Hoprich, Heather (Scott) Blessard, Krystan Edwards, Tracie Hoprich, Michael (Amanda) Hoprich, Stephen (Brittany) Edwards, and Abigail (TJ) Arundel, and her treasured great-grandchildren, Ava Hoprich, Bellamy Blessard, Isley Blessard, Evelyn Hoprich, Alyssa Hoprich, River Edwards, Freya Edwards, Stassi Edwards, Ellie Arundel, Jaxon Arundel, Mack Arundel.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Angie Perri.
Friends and family will be received from 9:30 am-11:30am Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Stark Memorial.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held following at 12, Noon at St. Paul Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
