Jean Stockner Bowman

Mrs. Jean Stockner Bowman, age 93, of Cana, VA, passed away on Friday May 5, 2023, at Senior Home Share in Galax. She was born in Carroll County on November 28, 1929, to the late Claud Bryan Stockner and Marie Payne Stockner. Jean was retired from Renfro Corporation and was a long-time member of Rocky Ford Christian Church. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie Bowman of Cana, VA; her son, Wayne and Beverly Bowman of Appomattox, VA; three grandchildren, Lori and Brian Craig, Benton Bowman, and Diane and Michael Goin; seven great-grandchildren, Carleigh Craig, Eli Craig, Berkley Goin, Dalton Goin, John Goin, Benton Bowman, Jr., and Brady Bowman; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Murphy Franklin Bowman; grandson, Ryan Payne; and her siblings, Ruth Opaline Stockner Banks, Isaac William Stockner, Claud Bryan “CB” Stockner, Jr., Bobby Delane Stockner, Nita Lynn Stockner Martin, Wilma Caudill, and an infant sister, Sarah Ann Stockner. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 10, 2023, at Rocky Ford Christian Church at 2:00PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt Thank You to the staff and caregivers at Senior Home Share for all of the love and care shown to Ma (Mrs. Jean) during her stay.
