Jeffrey Wayne Murphy, 65, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on May 27, 2025. He was born on September 9, 1959, to the late Bobby Murphy and Carolyn Murphy.

In addition to his parents, Jeff was proceeded in death by his brothers, Michael Murphy and Troy Murphy, and his grandmother, Evelyn Webber.

He is survived by his son, Waylon Murphy; his daughter, Ali Huntress and husband Brian; his children’s mother, Debbie Murphy; and his aunt, Terrie Bigler. He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Bella, who never left his side.

Though Jeff did not get to meet his two grandsons, who are expected soon to Ali and Brian, his family will carry his spirit and memory forward to them with love and pride, so they may always know what kind of man their grandfather was.

Jeff had a passion for music, sports, and spent most of his time outdoors and with nature. He was a hard worker who didn’t mind getting his hands dirty. Jeff was known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, without recognition, because that’s just the kind of man he was. His love for his friends and family was immeasurable. His huge heart, kindness, and compassion to help others is what will be truly missed about him.

A visitation will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Thursday, June 5, from 6:00 to 7:00PM, with a memorial service immediately following.
