Jerkita B. Hairston

Jerkita B. Hairston, 36, of Bassett, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2023, at her residence. She was born on October 9, 1986, to Jeffrie and Pam Hairston, of Martinsville. She was preceded by her Maternal grandfather, Elijah Poteat; Paternal grandparents, Minister Jessie B. Hairston, and Elizabeth Hairston

She attended Martinsville High School. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter which was her pride and joy. When she was not busy being a mother, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.

In addition to her parents, she leaves behind to cherish her memories to her daughter, Nykaila Sligh; a brother, Jeffrie Hairston, Jr., her grandmother, Odaris M. Richardson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Homegoing Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1:00PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Mount Hermon Church of Brethren Cemetery following the service.
