Jerry Lane Blankenship

JERRY LANE BLANKENSHIP, 70, of Bland, VA, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 at his home. He was born March 31, 1955 in Wytheville, VA, the son of the late Harold & Creasie Blankenship.

Jerry was a storyteller and loved telling jokes.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a heavy equipment operator.

He loved spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, David Harold, Sr. & Creasie May Dalton Blankenship, his brother, Larry D. Blankenship, and a brother-in-law, Willie Davis.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jeremy Lane Blankenship and Amanda Lee (“Mandy”) Clemons; his grandchildren, Carlee Lane Blankenship, Evan Clemons, Erin Grace Clemons and  Emily Clemons; 8 great-grandchildren; his sisters & brothers, Catherine McGuire, David Blankenship, Jane & Teddy Davis, Revonna & Gus Shepherd and Janet & Matt Clemons; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Larry Fletcher, Lowry Justice and Glenn Eaton.

Per his wishes, Jerry will be cremated. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Rev. Ray Amos officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until service time, 7:00P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Jerry’s honor to the local animal shelters or humane societies.
