Jerry Ray Murley

February 21, 1951 - December 13, 2025

Jerry Ray Murley passed away on December 13, 2025, while residing at Kroontje Health Care Center. He was the beloved son of W. Ray and Ruby M. Murley, who previously made their homes in Blacksburg, Virginia, and Raleigh, North Carolina. Jerry was born on February 21, 1951, in Ames, Iowa, during the time his father was pursuing graduate studies at Iowa State University. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Rebecca M. Marsh. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Ron Kreisa, who reside in Shipman, Virginia, and by his nephew, Skip (Trish) Marsh, of Cape Coral, Florida. Jerry grew up in a caring and supportive home. Because of his special needs, he attended several private schools, starting with Ravenscroft in Raleigh and later continuing at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. He enjoyed hunting, watching TV and cherished time spent at the Murley family’s lake cottage on Claytor Lake. Jerry demonstrated remarkable commitment in his professional life. He worked at Prices Body Shop for over twenty years, where his reliability was well recognized and he was known for rarely missing a day of work. Prior to this, Jerry was employed at Electro Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia for more than twenty years. Honoring Jerry’s request, he has been cremated. Those wishing to remember him may make donations to the Ray and Ruby Scholarship Fund at Virginia Tech, to Warm Hearth, or to a charity of their choice. Rest in peace, Jerry.
