Jimmie William Morrissette
Jimmie William "Mo" Morrissette, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ann Gordon Morrissette.
Born in Lynchburg on July 30, 1943, he was the son of the late James and Alma Morrissette. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Menefee.
Jimmie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He later retired from Lynchburg Steel, where he worked as a skilled steel fabricator, and was a member of Elon Presbyterian Church.
A true sports enthusiast, Jimmie faithfully supported the University of Virginia, the Washington Redskins, and the New York Mets, attending many games over the years. Most of all, he loved watching his grandson play baseball—he was his biggest fan. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and birdwatching. Generous by nature, Jimmie often shared the fruits of his garden with friends and neighbors, giving away more than he kept. He loved a good meal, especially when prepared by his beloved wife, Ann. Above all, Jimmie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Matthew Morrissette (Valerie); his daughter, Danielle Williams (Steve); his grandson, Wagner G. Morrissette; and two grand dogs, Star and Hunter.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Polly Starnes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:00 p.m.
